A test and inspections is required every year on all passenger carrying vertical transportation. This includes both hydraulic and electric (traction) elevators, escalator, moving walks, wheelchair lifts, etc.

Five year safety test and inspection for electric (traction) elevator as well as roped hydraulic elevators that have governors and car safeties.

Alterations, including complete modernizations, controller replacements, firefighters service upgrades, valve replacement, etc.

An elevator may require re-inspection of equipment if a repeat violation exists from a previous inspection. Acceptance inspections, installations that have been removed from service, routine inspections preformed for insurance providers and owners are also provided.
